May is almost here--that time of year for the greatest sporting event in
Indiana. No,...not the Indy 500--*the Indiana QSO Party*!!! For 12 hours
beginning 1500Z on May 4, Indiana ops are in demand by ham radio
operators around the world.  It is hoped to have participants in all 92
Indiana counties on the air again this year--a real challenge to make
contact with them all and make progress toward the Worked All Indiana
Counties award.

For full info about the Indiana QSO Party, check out the INQP webpage at
www.hdxcc.org/inqp <http://www.hdxcc.org/inqp>. There's a link to a
Powerpoint presentationby Mel KJ9C (click on PUBLICITY PACKAGE) that
could be used as an orientation--maybe even program material for your
club. The website also holds a lot of other info, like rules for INQP,
operating tips, and links to special awards like the Worked All Indiana
Counties award.

Participants can compete for one of 17 plaques for individual or group
accomplishments including club competition.  And there are LOTS of
certificates issued to participants.  Club competition is very popular,
with 12 clubs entering in 2018.  Winner was the Northwest Indiana DX
Club with seven logs submitted.  They need other clubs to push them this
year!

Besides operating from home, those living in or near Indiana can go
mobile or set up bigger (and higher--or lower) antennas as a  rover or
portable.  If you decide to work mobile, portable, or rover, please pass
the info on to other contesters via the INQP reflector (or email to K9WX
timk9wx at gmail.com <mailto:timk9wx at gmail.com>) regarding which Indiana
counties and call signs you will activate on May 4-5.  We'll put your
call on the activity map.  The top ten "rare" counties are: Spencer,
Pike, Jefferson, Crawford, Floyd, Martin, Dubios, Union, Kosciusko, and
Orange.

Whatever your operating preference, please get on the air Saturday May
4-5 for a fun time.  And if you want to operate the three other QSO
parties that day, check out N1MMLogger and the INQP website so you can
log all the QSOs in one log and submit it to multiple contests.  Use the
5-digit county identifiers on the INQP website.  The last bit of
business:  Be certain to submit your log(s) after the contest. Thanks.

73 and have fun,
