When our local club (Mississippi Valley ARA, La Crosse WI) decided to
operate on the Minnesota side for the Minn. QSO Party, I applied for a
3-character special event callsign (W0M) -- it was fast, easy, free and
painless. Pics and story at https://www.qrz.com/db/w0m

You might consider getting a 9-land special event callsign for the WiQP,
especially if you feel that having a non-9 callsign will be a detriment to
your efforts. It says it may take 5-7 business days, but ours was assigned
within a day.

Food for thought. FYI, our club will be on for the WiQP... look for W9MVA,
operating from our emcomm bus <https://photos.app.goo.gl/HZoSHzTV9YpQyK2r6>.
