[WIQPmail] Fwd: Mobile and fixed Station Competing

Hi Jim.

Operating Mobile and operating Fixed are essentially two different
contests. In addition to the 500 per county bonus points, each time a
mobile operator crosses a county line, those in the Mobile category can
work the same stations all over again. And they are often sought-after, at
least when moving into rare counties. Fixed stations get none of these
benefits, but of course they likely have better operating conditions
(towers, beams, high wire antennas, etc.)

This is not rocket science. These two operating categories have almost
completely separate rules and should not be competing against each other,
much like a baseball team would not compete against a basketball team. It
just doesn't make any sense.

We do not need to make this complicated (mobiles submitting two scores???).
We just need to award BOTH categories SEPARATELY for their efforts.

The incentive to promote mobile activity? The fact that the Mobile
category would have its own award, and they do not have to worry about
being beat out by someone doing a Single Op at a superstation W0AIH.

Let's make Single Op Fixed and Single Op Mobile two different award
categories.

Regarding operating from a county line... I think that is a totally
separate discussion. I'm not sure of the concerns on either side of the
fence, but I would like to suggest that it not cloud the discussion about
keeping Single Op Fixed & Single Op Mobile separated, for award purposes.
Start a new thread about "county line operating" and let's discuss.
